Course Overview

Finding Self: How to Identify, Break the Loop, and Overcome Impostor Syndrome is an evidence-informed course for healthcare professionals. It explores impostor syndrome through psychology, neuroscience, Polyvagal Theory and nervous-system regulation.

The course examines how self-doubt, perfectionism and fear of being “found out” can be maintained by autonomic nervous-system states. Participants learn why regulation may need to precede cognitive change, how to recognise common impostor patterns, and how to apply practical regulation-first strategies in personal and professional contexts.

Course Format

  • Three recorded learning sessions
  • Downloadable 49-page course manual
  • Guided reflection and practical application activities
  • Approximately 3 hours of course content plus 1 hour of self-study

Course Outcomes

After completing this programme, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the neuroscience and nervous-system mechanisms associated with impostor syndrome.
  • Explain how autonomic states influence confidence, self-belief and professional performance.
  • Recognise common impostor patterns in themselves and their clients.
  • Explain how thoughts, emotions, physiology and behaviour reinforce the Impostor Loop.
  • Apply regulation-first interventions, including breathing, grounding, bilateral stimulation and self-anchoring.
  • Integrate regulation principles into work involving self-doubt, perfectionism and fear of failure.
